Backend Engineer

The candidate will be joining their Engineering team and the candidate will be involved in the various different products.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Optimise their web and mobile applications for performance, including fast load times and smooth user interactions. Identify and resolve bottlenecks and performance issues;

• Develop and implement testing strategies, including unit, integrations, and end-to-end testing. Debug and resolve issues, ensuring a smooth and bug-free user experience;

• Act as a mentor to other developers with less experience in front-end technologies, providing guidance and support;

• Collaborate closely with their PM and the other team members to provide valuable insights for accurate work estimation, contributing to realistic project timelines.

 

Profile

Successful Candidate:

• You have proven experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role with strong proficiency with Node.js and JavaScript;

• You have solid experience with PostgreSQL and database design;

• Familiarity with AWS services and cloud deployment;

• Understanding of RESTful API design principles;

• You have excellent communication and collaboration skills and previous experience collaborating in a cross-functional team, including Product teams;

• You have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and debug issues efficiently;

• You are skilled at breaking down complex software development tasks into smaller, manageable chunks, facilitating efficient implementation;

• You are curious and enthusiastic with a drive to constantly learn and acquire new knowledge.

 

Other skills that could be beneficial but are not required:

• Knowledge of serverless architecture (e.g., AWS Lambda);
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes);
• CI/CD pipeline setup and maintenance;
• Previous experience with tdd.
