The opportunity:

We are seeking talented Backend Engineers to join our dedicated Digital Payments team. As a Digital Payments Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in integrating our system with various bank networks (ACH, SEPA, FPS, etc.), card networks (Visa, MasterCard, etc.), alternative payment methods (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.) and maintaining the company’s physical and virtual card products.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build robust, scalable, and high-performance backend systems that power our comprehensive banking solutions.


What you’ll be doing primarily:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs that support our platform.
  • Implement features that enhance the functionality and user experience of our payments solutions.
  • Ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of our systems.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Deploy, monitor, and manage services using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like AWS.
  • Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and contribute to best practices.


Required qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Spent lots of quality time coding, deeply learning the powerful idioms and important idiosyncrasies of multiple programming languages and their ecosystems. We like to code mostly in JavaScript (node.js) and Golang.
  • Strong understanding of relational (preferably PostgreSQL) and/or non-relational databases (e.g. Redis).
  • Strong understanding of web semantics.
  • Knowledge of version control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of standard development pipelines, including build and other automation tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player with the ability to work in cross-functional teams, and with a great attitude.
  • Fluent written and oral English skills.


Bonus if you have:

  • Experience in developing APIs for other products you’ve worked on.
  • Developing software interacting with message queues (e.g. Kafka, NSQ, Pulsar or RabbitMQ).
  • Experience in integrating APIs from other services providers.
  • Proven record of having worked with performance budgets. 
  • Fluency in cryptocurrencies or other digital assets as they are core to our business.
  • Community talks, certifications, and/or blog posts on your interests and research.
  • Open source project contributions of any kind, such as tools developed to solve specific problems you’ve had or fixing issues on existing projects.
