Position Overview

We’re seeking a seasoned DevOps / Solutions Architect to join our Lisbon team and take ownership of designing efficient, observable, and secure systems that align with Koloni's technical strategy and goals. This in-person role will focus on architecting high-performance solutions, leveraging top cloud technologies, and building a resilient infrastructure that scales to meet both present and future needs. Our ideal candidate is a forward-thinking cloud architect with expertise in AWS, CI/CD, and enterprise-scale project leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Architect Scalable Solutions: Develop modular, resilient, and cloud-based solutions. Create architecture blueprints for new system integrations.
  • Establish Technical Standards: Define best practices, standards, and governance models for high-quality, secure, and compliant architecture across all systems.
  • Collaborative System Integration: Partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure integrated solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Lead Cloud Strategy and Optimization: Drive cloud strategy with AWS (or equivalent platforms) to create a cost-effective, optimized architecture. Identify opportunities for cloud adoption and legacy system migration.
  • Manage Data Layers: Implement data integration layers for seamless inter-service communication, modularity, and efficient data flow.
  • Implement Security & Disaster Recovery: Develop solutions with a focus on security and resilience, including disaster recovery protocols for business continuity.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Act as a thought leader, advising teams on best practices in architecture and promoting knowledge-sharing.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Experience: 7+ years in DevOps, Solutions Architecture, or similar roles, with deep knowledge in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and high-availability systems.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience with AWS (Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, OpenSearch, S3, Route 53, etc.).
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Strong proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and lightweight tools.
  • CI/CD: Proven expertise in CI/CD pipeline development and management.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Skilled in performance monitoring & dashboards (AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana) and logging (OpenSearch, ELK).
  • Software Services: Expertise in microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and familiarity with API gateways and messaging brokers (e.g., Kafka).
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Skilled in IaC tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for automated deployments.
  • Security & Compliance: Understanding of cloud security best practices, identity management, encryption, and compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2).
  • Programming & Scripting: Proficient in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Ruby for automation.
  • Soft Skills: Problem-solving mindset, excellent communication, and a collaborative, cross-functional work style.
  • Bonus: AWS Solutions Architect certification or similar qualifications.
