Lead Java Developer

This is a remote position.

Though this is a remote position, the candidate has to be based in Portugal.

Eleos partners with fintechs and other popular brands across the UK and soon the US, embedding income protection insurance and life cover into their online journeys to make personal financial protection accessible to millions of people who are vulnerable to life's unavoidable hardships.

 

Job Description:

• Join our software development team in crafting, evolving, and refining backend systems using Java, Spring, and other relevant technologies.
• Ensure the reliability and performance of backend services, focusing on database interaction, message queuing systems, and server-side logic implementation.
• Optimize backend systems for maximum efficiency and scalability, emphasizing system design and integration in a cloud-native environment.
• Mentor junior developers, lead code reviews, and uphold best practices in backend development and software architecture.
• Collaborate closely with the founder and CTO to prioritize and refine the product backlog, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and mission.
• Play a key role in adopting best practices to continuously improve our team's capabilities and the overall quality of our codebase, contributing to the technological excellence of our product.

 

Requirements

Must haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java and frameworks such as Spring.
• Strong UNIX and automation skills including CI/CD pipelines.
• In-depth experience with SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and tools for database administration.
• Strong background in working with messaging systems like RabbitMQ.
• Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, preferably Kubernetes and Docker.

 

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
