About the role + Tasks

We are looking for a motivated Server Infrastructure and DevOps Engineer to be part of our engineering team at Papers. Technologies that you will work on include Linux/Ubuntu, GitLab CI, Docker, Ansible, GCP, Kubernetes, Nginx, backups, and monitoring tools. You will be responsible for the stability and scalability of our infrastructure, embracing open-source solutions. You will also be involved in pager-duty rotations to ensure the high availability of our services.

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure server infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery.
  • Manage and optimize Docker containers and Kubernetes clusters for high availability and performance.
  • Use Ansible for configuration management and automation.
  • Implement and manage cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Configure and manage Nginx servers.
  • Ensure robust backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor infrastructure using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
  • Participate in pager-duty rotations to handle incidents and ensure uptime.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration of new services and features.
  • Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Proficiency with Linux/Ubuntu.
  • Strong experience with GitLab CI for continuous integration and delivery.
  • Proficiency with Docker and container orchestration using Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible.
  • Good understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
  • Experience with Nginx for web server management.
  • Knowledge of backup strategies and tools.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English.
  • Self-organized and autonomous, with a get-things-done mentality.

Bonus Points

  • Know-how in running Blockchain nodes (e.g., Ethereum, Bitcoin, Cosmos, Tezos).
  • Understanding of security hardening practices.
  • Previous experience in the security sector.
  • Contributions to open-source projects (link to GitHub repo in your CV).
